Norma P. Sepulveda tells stories for kids, families, and the kid still living inside every grown-up. She served as Story Editor and Head Writer on Disney Junior’s Ariel, a preschool animated series inspired by The Little Mermaid. She launched her animation career as an apprentice writer on Elena of Avalor and went on to write for Firebuds, Spirit Rangers, and Mickey Mouse Funhouse. Norma has also sold original projects to Netflix and Disney Junior, and developed projects for DreamWorks, Spin Master, and Moonbug, to name a few.
Norma’s path to animation began in live action, where she was drawn to female-led psychological thrillers and coming-of-age dramedies. Animation sparks her imagination and keeps her inner child bursting with joy and possibility, while live action challenges her to explore moral complexities and the big questions that intrigue her as an adult. Together, they give her a broader canvas to flex her creative muscles and tell the stories that matter most to her.
Born and raised in Southern California, Norma is an Indigenous Chicana whose background informs her perspective without defining her range. She holds a BA from California State University, Northridge, and an MFA in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute (AFI) Conservatory.
